Every day, 63 New Zealanders will hear a sentence no one wants to hear: “You have cancer”. All up, there are more than 22,000 new cancer cases each year. While cancer treatment is traditionally handled by secondary care, there is a support role for primary care, especially pharmacy. Auckland pharmacy owner Hee Seung Lee, speaks to reporter Jonathan Chilton-Towle about what pharmacy staff can do to support patients receiving cancer treatment and their families and raise awareness of available early screening programmes
